Employment Equity
Often people have a negative perception about Employment Equity. This is often driven by a lack of understanding of the requirements of the Employment Equity Act (“EEA”) and poor implementation of the provisions. Our role at Global Business Solutions is to clarify EEA and to give you practical tools and how to implement them.
EE is about promoting equal opportunities and fair treatment for all employees by eliminating unfair discrimination in policies and practices of the designated employer. This prohibition of unfair discrimination is regardless of the employees race, gender, sex, language, culture, religion, social status etc.
Equality in the workplace can be achieved through Affirmative Action measures like making reasonable accommodation for Suitable Qualified individuals from designated groups where they are under-represented in certain occupations and where opportunities arise through (open vacancies, resignations, promotions) they should considered. This would include measures such as availing training and development opportunities, identifying of barriers that exist for designated groups (defined as Blacks(Africans, Coloureds, Indians); Women and People with disabilities).
Our training and consulting services helps clients to educate employees and management alike on how to deal with EEA and how to effectively implement it. We can assist you in setting up your Employment Equity Committee, drafting your Employment Equity related policies and ensuring compliance with the various submission requirements.
