IN NEED OF A DYNAMIC MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER…?
If you are planning a Company Conference or Strategy Session, it would be well worth considering using well-known adventurer, Kim van Kets, as guest speaker.
Kim is an admitted Attorney of the High Court, specialising in the field of labour law. She is also one of our regular facilitators.
Kim recently completed a self-powered 6,772 km expedition around the borders of South Africa which saw her either running an average of 42 km, cycling 100 km a day or kayaking around 50 km a day for six consecutive days a week, which took close to five months last year in all types of weather conditions, earning her the nickname “Ramkat”! (This story is only included as one of the many amusing encounters that she shares during her presentation).
Her captivating 60 minute presentation encourages the audience to rediscover the passion that enables them to recharge their batteries and prevent burn-out and loss of creativity. It also provides an entertaining, anecdotal and positive perspective of South Africa and draws many comparisons between the challenges faced on her self-powered journey around the border of South Africa and those encountered in the business world as well as in one’s personal life.
The presentation is largely visual as her narration of events is illustrated in a number of photographic slides and a short video clip.
Some of the focal points that are covered are:
Focusing on the positive
Translating the dream into a goal
Learning to give and receive help
Not being immobilised by the enormity of the task at hand
Finding creative alternatives when the usual resources disappear
Preventative maintenance – taking care of the important things before they present a crisis
Jonathan Goldberg, CEO, Global Business Solutions
“Kim is an inspirational motivational speaker. She’s truly one of the best I’ve ever heard. What makes her different is that Kim has gone out and done it and she can relate it back to practical business due to her vast business consulting experience”
Owen Nel – Headmaster of Clarendon High School
Kim’s entertaining and inspirational account of her incredible 148 day odyssey around the perimeter of South Africa was the highlight of the 2012 South African Girls’ Schools’ Association Conference hosted by the Clarendon Schools for Girls in East London in May. She shared the life lessons learnt during this epic feat with the 90 delegates who were spellbound, amazed and challenged by her accomplishment!
Ilse Du Toit – Manager, Strategy & Innovation
Kim is such an inspiration. During her presentation, what truly struck a chord, is that even good change is difficult and should be carefully planned. As a manager and leader it is often assumed that knowing the end goal is good, the transition and impact on people are often understated. Kims’ talk raised a new level of awareness with me that can be applied in both my personal- and business life alike.
Her courage, endurance and zest for life is contagious!”
