About The Event

Course Overview:

Shop Stewards play an integral role in a well-functioning workplace. This intensive one-day

workshop will ensure that your Shop Stewards are empowered in respect of the knowledge,

skills and behaviours required to master the various outcomes as summarised below:

  • Acquire knowledge of the South African labour law framework

  • Understand the Employer-Employee Relationship and balance of rights & responsibilities

  • Understand organisational rights within the workplace

  • Engage effectively, representing workers/workers’ rights whilst appreciating operational realities


Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the labour law framework including core legislation, LRA, BCEA, UIA, EEA, NMW, SDA

  • Utilise the Codes of Good Practice to support workplace compliance

  • Understand the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees

  • Appreciate the roles of stakeholders

  • Apply organisational rights and workplace representation

  • Gain knowledge of collective bargaining, and dispute resolution (including strikes)

  • Gain knowledge of the LRA and BCEA and associated minimum employee contractual rights

  • Appreciate the role of legislation in the transformation of the workplace, e.g.: Employment

  • Equity & Skills Development


All workshops are offered as customised in-house training that can be presented virtually or on-site.
